Ruth Jane Swearingen Gressett, 92, died peacefully at home on October 12, 2018. She was born March 24, 1926 in Hickory, MS, the daughter of Reverend Otis V. and Noda Johnson Swearingen. Ruth married her high school sweetheart, Opie Gressett, on May 1, 1943. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, reading and spending time with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and friends. She was a member of Fairhope Community Church. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Opie, and grandson, Robby Coleman. Her survivors include one son, Opie Timothy Gressett, of Fairhope, AL; daughter, Teri, and son-in-law, John Coleman, of Rockbridge Baths, VA; brothers, James and Paul Swearingen; sister, Sarah Sellers; grandchildren, Karra Booth, Christina Lohmeyer, Jay Coleman, Lara Doty, Kasey Lancaster and Alex Gressett; great-grandchildren, Maddison and Nathan Booth, Ava and Joshua Lohmeyer, Tripp, Lillian and Scarlett Coleman, Jackson Doty, Kamille and Kayden Lancaster. Visitation will be held at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home on Tuesday, October 16, 2018 from 10:00 AM until 12:00 Noon. Funeral service will follow from the funeral home chapel at noon.
