On Friday, September 11, 2020, Sally Deschner Stokely - at 88 years old - went peacefully into the light towards the gates of paradise, and her spirit returneth from whence it came. She was born in Brownsville, MN on February 17,1932, and was a resident of Mobile, AL for over 65 years. Sally attended Hamline University at St. Paul, San Diego State, and the University of South Alabama, and was employed at Brookley Air Force Base, GM&O, American Red Cross, Presbytery of Mobile, and she sold real estate for Partin and Don Hamilton. She retired from the USA Medical Center in 1997 and did volunteer work for the reading program at South Brookley School, at Mercy Medical, and for R.S.V.P. She edited "The Peace Letter" for several years and is the author of "The Last Prophet", published in 1996. She also served as organist for St. Monica Catholic Church, Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church for nearly 20 years and Holy Family Catholic Church. Sally is preceded in death by her son, David Andre Stokely; her grandson, Michael Dean Stokely; her mother Esther Marie Braun, and her father Elmer Henry Deschner. She is survived by her other children: Donald, Jr., Dean (Wanda), Danny, and Douglas (Katie) of Mobile, AL; (Christine) of San Antonio, TX; and Diane (Steve) Gilreath of Daphne, AL. Her surviving grandchildren are: Darin (Sandee), Darrel, Esther, Denise, Julie (Shayan), April, Mitchell (Heather), Eric, Danielle, Sarah (Joel), and Shani (Clay). She has many great grandchildren and even a few great-great grandchildren! She is also survived by her sister Shirley Deschner-Lee of La Crescent, MN, and many nieces and nephews. She leaves behind the beautiful legacy of a big family and great faith. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend Memorial Mass on Saturday, October 3, 2020 at Our Lady of Lourdes Church at 1621 Boykin Blvd, Mobile, AL 36605. Visitation will be held from 9-10 AM, recitation of the Rosary will be held at 10 AM, and the Mass will be held at 10:30 AM.
