Samuel Williamson Jr

February 26, 1945 — January 20, 2024

Samuel Lamar "S.L." Williamson, Jr., 78, of Mobile, AL, passed away on January 20, 2024.

S.L. was born to the late Samuel Lamar Williamson, Sr and Lillie Madge (Pey) Williamson on February 26, 1945. He graduated from Lyman Ward Military Academy. In March of 1968, he married the love of his life, Joy Ann. He gave his life to the Lord in 1975 and became a servant of God.

S.L. and Joy Ann committed their lives to serving God and prepared to go to the mission field. They served two years in Brazil and returned to their home church, Cottage Hill Baptist. In 1989 they moved to Leakesville, MS and S.L. pastored at Cedar Grove Baptist Church. In 1995, they returned to Mobile.

S.L loved people. He always had a soft heart for those who were struggling. He gave of himself, with Joy Ann by his side, for five decades. Everyone who knew him loved him. There are quite a few friends of his from high school here even today!

He is in Heaven now, face to face with Jesus and Joy Ann, and will be greatly missed until we see him again. What a man! What a dad, uncle, cousin, brother-in-law. What a friend!

S.L. is survived by two daughters, Margaret "Peg" Celeste Lawrence (Tripp), Deborah "Debbie" Marie Turner; four grandsons, Justice Rowan Turner, Caleb Tyler Turner, Samuel "Sammie" David Turner, and Joseph Monroe "Roe" Lawrence IV.

S.L.'s family will honor his memory with a memorial service on Friday January 26, 2024, at Luke 4:18 Fellowship Church at 12:00 pm with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m.
