Sarah Hattaway Willette, age 81, of Mobile, Alabama passed from here to her heavenly home on Monday, February 24, 2020. Sarah was born in Enterprise, Alabama on September 17, 1938. She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church.
Sarah was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a remarkable cook and enjoyed preparing meals for her family, friends and those that were sick and in need. She loved her family and friends and was passionate about taking care of people. Sarah enjoyed traveling with her husband, the love of her life, and they were both devoted Auburn football fans.
Sarah is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, James McDuffie Willette. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Thelma and Tom Hattaway, her brother, Thomas Hattaway, and brother-in-law, Lamar Brooks. Sarah is survived by her sister, Karen Hattaway Brooks and three daughters; Patricia Willette Franklin (Bob), Suzanne Willette Doggett (Geoffrey), and Jina Willette Chess (Todd). She is also survived by five grandchildren; James Michael Chafin (Krista), Dusten James Doggett (Britney), John Kyle Doggett, William Bradley Chess, and Jessica Lee Chess. She has two great-grandchildren, Hollyn and Arlo and several loving nieces and nephew.
A memorial service celebrating her life will be held Monday, March 2, 2020 at 11:00am at Christ United Methodist Church, 6101 Grelot Road, Mobile, Alabama. Interment will follow at Memorial Gardens Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make a Memorial Donation in Sarah Willette’s name to Christ United Methodist Church.
