Sheila Walker McInnis, 73, of Mobile, Alabama, died peacefully at her home on January 23, 2024. She was born in Mobile, Alabama on May 11, 1950 to the late Bessie Knight and James Leroy Walker.
Sheila was preceded in death by her loving husband of 52 years, Hershel Gary McInnis. She is survived by her sister Diane Walker Connell (Ronnie Connell), son Gary Van McInnis (Jennifer McInnis), granddaughters Mackenzie and Kaleigh McInnis, along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
If you knew her you knew that spending quality time and providing gifts were her love language. She enjoyed going shopping, meeting new acquaintances, and spending time with her family. She never missed an occasion to attend her church, Cottage Hill Baptist, where she was always surrounded by her best friends. She had faith in people and supported them in all of their endeavors. Her biggest pride and joy was being a mother and grandmother which came naturally to her, and she took great pleasure in her family. She was a tribal member of the Poarch Creek Indians since 2008. Her Indian heritage was a very treasured part of her lineage. She enjoyed working in the banking industry for 30 plus years in which she achieved one of her greatest accomplishments, graduating from the University of South Alabama in the Alabama School of Banking.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, January 30th, 2024 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at Cottage Hill Baptist Church followed by a celebration of life at 12:00 pm. Graveside will follow at the Mobile Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, we would like you to donate to the Susan G. Komen breast cancer foundation in honor of Sheila Walker McInnis being a five time breast cancer survivor. https://www.komen.org/
