Shelby Gaubatz

Shelby Elizabeth Gaubatz was born in Charleston, South Carolina on April 3, 1979. Three months later she and her parents moved to Mobile, just in time to be greeted by Hurricane Frederic. After weathering the storm, they planted roots and would remain lifelong residents.

Shelby left Mobile on October 31, 2023. Her mother, Patti Kay Gaubatz, left before her. Her dad, Jim Gaubatz, and her brother, Ben Gaubatz, stayed behind. Now we mourn her passing and think of what might have been.

People describe Shelby as a good neighbor, a kind, pleasant, helpful, and energetic soul. At work, she was known as a team-player. She was soft-hearted and looked after animals, especially the weak and abandoned; her pets occupied a special place in her life.

Shelby devoted her life to making sure the people she loved were taken care of. She was welcoming to those around her and always saw the good in people. The love in her heart was evident in how she talked about her family and friends. She will be dearly missed.

Shelby will be cremated and a private celebration will be held at a later date..
