Shirley Summerlin

Shirley Ann Summerlin, age 81, of Mobile, AL, passed away peacefully Thursday morning, May 20, 2021. Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with the arrangements.

She was born December 21, 1939, a daughter of the late Arnold and Mary Finch.

Shirley was preceded in death by her husband of 36 years, Ross "Buddy" Summerlin, along with two sisters, Jean Duncan and Yvonne Mclendon.

Shirley was a strong, determined, and fiercely independent woman, touching many lives with her time spent as a school bus driver. She enjoyed gathering and traveling with her family, cooking, baking, and shopping on QVC. She loved to crack jokes, her laugh was contagious.

She is survived by her three children, LaRonda (Ronnie) Webb, Tommy Summerlin, and Theresa & Jammie Haynes, step-daughter, Pam Nicholson, special friend and companion, Darryl Thompson; her four sisters, Helen Talbot, Dolisca Sellers, Clara Frost, and Lois Brown, one brother, AG Finch, 10 grandchildren, Amy Cotton, Lisa Langele, Gavin Webb, Whitney Kyte, Britney Shaw, Tessy Lambert, Cierra Holifield, Taylor Stork, Skyler Parker, and JoCyah Young, and 21 great-grandchildren. Her grandchildren knew her lovingly as "MawMaw". She also leaves behind many other family members and friends that will miss her dearly.

Visitation will be held Sunday, May 23, 2021, from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, with funeral services starting at 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Graveside services will be held Tuesday, May 25, 2021, at 12:00 p.m. at Mobile Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
