Shirley had an adventurous spirit and enjoyed several careers throughout her life. She traveled throughout the United States but spent much of her time in the Mobile, Alabama area and Shirley considered Boston, Massachusetts her second home. Shirley's devotion to her parents was exemplified by her return to the area for their care in 1980. Shirley never met an animal she didn't love and spent much of her time furthering their nurture and care. Shirley was a long time member of the Church of Jesus Christ, a church that had been established by her mother and father in Semmes, Alabama in 1952. Shirley remained a trustee of the Church until her passing. She was much loved and will be missed by her family.
