Stephen Yost, a lifelong resident of Mobile, Alabama, passed away at his home on December 31st 2018 at the age of 73. He spent his life building family, career, and a good reputation. Those who knew him recognized him as a man of honesty, perseverance and commitment to principle. To Stephen, integrity and keeping one's word were the highest virtues. He upheld these throughout his life as husband, father, friend, and businessman. Born and raised in downtown Mobile, he assumed responsibility as a young man running odd jobs, making deliveries and working as a mechanic in a local garage. While preparing to begin a college education, he met his wife, Janet Elaine Wicke and they were married on June 8, 1968. He graduated from Mobile College with a degree in economics. He then began his career as a salesman in real estate. Building upon many successes and awards, he established himself in the business community as a brokerage in commercial real estate, Yost Properties, Inc. There he distinguished himself as a widely respected professional in the Mobile area. An avid lover of the outdoors, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and boating. Always fond of the water, he was an accomplished skier, and spent many weekends at the beach or on area waterways. He was devoted to his family, always including them in these activities. They traveled often to many destinations both domestic and abroad.
He is survived by Janet, his wife of 50 years, his sister Marolyn Kruse, and his brother Billy Yost; by his two sons Barry (spouse Jennifer) and Adam (spouse Christine), and two grandsons, Conrad and Aaron.
Funeral services to be held at Mobile Memorial Garden Funeral Home, 6040 Three Notch Road on Friday, January 4th, 2019. Visitation will be at 12 noon, followed immediately by service's at 2 PM.
Burial in Mobile Memorial Gardens.
