Susan Marie Everett, 70 years old, passed peacefully on Friday, March 14, 2025 at Mobile Infirmary Hospital. She was surrounded by her family, tears of love and songs of praise.
While Susan spent her adult life in the Mobile, Alabama area, she was born in Eatontown, New Jersey near Fort Monmouth on July 2, 1954. She is preceded in death by her parents, Thomas James Everett, Sr. and Geraldine Williams Everett.
Susan was extremely proud of her family. As children, she and her beloved siblings, Thomas James Everett, Jr. (Nancy) of Neely, MS, Amie Annette Everett of Neely, MS and Alfred Trent Everett (Heather) of Dauphin Island, lived all over the country on their father's journey with the U.S. Navy. She adored her three children: Jason Lowe (Tara) of Theodore, Samantha Horton Duncan (Jason) of Stapleton and Tabatha Horton Fant (Jason) of Holcomb, MS; grand-children: Kennedi, Kimberlyn, Mason and Makaylyn Lowe, Zachary Nelson, Jackson and Madelyn Duncan, and Taylor and Owen Fant; and great grandchildren: Greyson, Ryler, Fisher, Hadleigh, Maddix, Nevaeh, Nevada, and Elsie; and a host of cherished cousins, nieces and nephews that she held close to her heart. She found so much joy attending her grandchildren's dance events, baseball and football games and school functions. She always made detailed notes, so she was deemed the secretary of their fan club by her daughters.
Susan enjoyed traveling the United States and Europe with her beloved long-time companion, James McDermott of Uddingston, Scotland, United Kingdom. She also loved University of Alabama football and gardening, and was known for her "green thumb". Susan always stayed in touch with her fellow Theodore High School graduates. She had many years of service at CPSI in Mobile, and also enjoyed cooking for the local Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4328 in Theodore, where she made many cherished friends.
Funeral services will be held at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 9:00 A.M. to 10:00 A.M. on Thursday, March 20, 2025, with a graveside service and interment following at 10:00 A.M.
