Teresa Chastain Barnickel was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and dear friend. She was a mother who supported her family unconditionally. She was a woman of strong faith and her relationship with Jesus was a living one. She believed in the power and strength of Jesus Christ's love and the beauty and peace that would await her after her passing. On Thursday, November 17, 2016 the angels came and brought her perfected spirit to her Master and Lord. She was born to the late Joseph Warren Chastain and Carol Lancaster Chastain on November 2, 1966. She was preceded in death by her son, Geremy Lloyd Bowden. Teresa graduated from Theodore High School and received her Master of Education from the University of South Alabama where she was a member of the Alpha Gamma Delta Sorority. She was a passionate and loving teacher for 10 years and had recently retired from Alba Middle School. Teresa is survived by her loving husband, John William Barnickel, Jr., whom she married on May 28, 1997. Also surviving is her brother, Mark (Tracy) Chastain; sister, Joy (Harry) Chastain-Dodich; two daughters, Jamie (Jason) Horstman, Jaryn Barnickel; sons, John (Nikki) Barnickel III and Joshua (Kali) Barnickel; four grandsons, Jacob Horstman, Jaxon Horstman, Jase Barnickel, and Jack Barnickel. Her family and friends will be celebrating her life on Saturday, November 26, 2016 from 10 until 12 at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held Saturday at 12 pm from the funeral home chapel. The family wishes to thank all of those who cared for her and Teresa's final wishes were that, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to Lungevity, c/o Van Kirk, 4100 River Road, Theodore, AL 36582.
