MKC Terry “Papa Smurf” Lee Stockton Sr. died peacefully at Springhill Medical Center Hospital on 01/28/2020 in Mobile, Alabama at the age of 65.
Terry Lee Stockton Sr. is survived by his wife, Pamela Valerie Stockton; children, Christopher Albert Stockton, His Daughter in-law Jordan Leigh Stockton. His son Terry Lee Stockton Jr. and soon to be daughter in-law Jennifer Michele` Burkett, his siblings, Gary Wayne Stockton Sr, Connie Bulter Stockton, Michael Stockton, Donald Stockton. His best friend Ralph Gregory Gomien. He is also survived by his grandchildren Rylee Rose Stockton, Sophie Serenity Stockton, Julian Conley Stockton, Elizabeth Kendall Adams, Natalie Paige Burkett.
Terry Lee Stockton Sr. was born on 02/26/1954 in San Antonio, Texas to William Conley Stockton and Melba Jane Schmidt. He finished high school from San Antonio in 1969 with his GED. He married Pamela Valerie Stockton, his childhood friend in 1982. After moving to Mobile, Alabama began working for United States Coast Guard as a machinery technician. Over 20 years, the couple welcomed 2 children into their home and Terry set about teaching them mechanical knowledge. His children remember him as a kind, gentle, patient, driven, stubborn father who encouraged them to pursue their goals.
Terry was accomplished at mechanical knowledge and often fixing others vehicles, homes, and anything that needed to be fixed. He was a generous and dedicated individual who loved his family and friends and who was passionate about helping his family, making sure that entire family was taken care of, vehicle repair, being a great grandparent, whom titled him as papa smurf, due to his long beard at the time. He was an active and dedicated member of the chief petty officers association of mobile. He volunteered as a little league coach for his children at a young age.
A funeral is scheduled for 09:30 on 01/31/2020 at 6040 Three Notch Road, Mobile, AL 36619 at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, with a burial to follow at 34904 AL-225, Spanish Fort, AL 36577 at Alabama State Veterans Memorial Cemetery . All are welcome to attend and celebrate Terry’s life. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to family at 6741 Browder Drive, Theodore, AL 36582. The family would like to thank hospital staff at Springhill Memorial Center in ICU for their efforts, care, compassion, and dedication.
