Thomas Toolen Brettel, Sr. ("Tommy"), 86, of Theodore, Alabama passed away on the morning of November 11, 2016. Born in Mobile, AL, on May 18, 1930, to Emile Peter Brettel, Sr. and Mary Louise Brettel, he was a wonderful and loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend. Mr. Brettel served the United States as a member of the Marine Corps, during the Korean War, from 1951-1952, and thereafter worked as a project supervisor in the construction industry. Mr. Brettel, who was also a member of a Mobile mystic society for more than thirty years, was devoted to his family and friends, and he made everyone in his life feel as if they were the most special person he knew. Thomas T. Brettel, Sr. was predeceased by his wife of fifty years, Lois Elizabeth Brettel, and his grandson, Patrick Brettel, as well as many of his siblings. Mr. Brettel is survived and will be missed by his wife, Linda Irean Brettel, his daughter, Tina Brettel Wagner (husband, Robert Wagner) his son, Thomas ("Tim") Brettel, Jr. (wife, Barbara Ferguson Brettel), his step-daughter, Sharry Sandler-Zaghia (husband, M. Yazid Zaghia), his grandchildren, Bobby Wagner, Morgan Wagner, Shanon Vickery, Thomas Brettel, Brittney Buckelew, Aden Zaghia, J. Nuri Zaghia, and Adli Zaghia, and his great-grandchildren, Braxton, Kael, Blakeley, Gunner, Zander and Zayden. Thomas T. Brettel, Sr. was also one of eleven children, and he is survived by his sister, Mabel, as well as many, many nieces, nephews and cousins. Graveside services and interment are scheduled for Friday, November 18, 2016, at 10:00 A.M. in Mobile Memorial Gardens.
