Thomas Christian, Sr.

Thomas Gordon Christian, Sr., passed away peacefully on March 10, 2018 in Mobile, AL surrounded by friends and family. "Tommy" was born August 11, 1946 in Mobile, AL to Marion Walter Christian and Ida Isabelle Thomas Christian. He was a 1964 graduate of Semmes High School and joyfully married Beverly Ann Sowell Christian on June 26, 1965 at Crichton Assembly of God. Together Tommy and Beverly had two children, three grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. Tommy retired from Delchamps Food Stores, having spent many years in the grocery industry bringing his sense of fun and hard work to coworkers and customers alike. His dedication to family and country led him to spend six years in the Naval Reserve and joined the Naval Enlisted Reserve Association where he formed life-long friendships. Tommy was an avid collector of historical memorabilia and had a wealth of stories for every piece. He attended Center Point Assembly of God where his humor and generosity of spirit regularly touched the lives of everyone--old and young alike. Left to honor and remember Tommy are his wife of 53 years, Beverly Ann Christian; his two children, Christina Renee Christian and Thomas Gordon (Mary) Christian, Jr.; two brothers, Arthur Ray Christian and Robert (Della) Christian; his three grandchildren, Krystal Leigh Dumas, Jonas McLeod Christian, and Nathaniel Kai Christian; and great-granddaughter, Reece Ann Miller, as well as many loving nieces, nephews, other relatives, extended family and friends. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Neonatal Unit at the University of South Alabama Children's & Women's Hospital in Mobile, Alabama. Funeral services, officiated by Pastor Ronald Spence Walker, will be held Friday, March 16, 2018 at 2:00 PM from the chapel of Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday from 12:00 Noon until service time. Interment will follow in Mobile Memorial Gardens.
