Thomas Bennie McConnell, of Theodore, Alabama, passed away on Sunday at his home in Grand Bay, surrounded by his loving family, at the age of 82. Mr. McConnell served in the United States Navy from 1950 to 1954. He had a long and distinguished career in farming, construction, and other businesses. He was well known for his integrity, work ethic, and his unwavering devotion to his family. Mr. McConnell is survived by his wife of 64 years, Lanell(Nell) nee' Lewis, son Larry (Linda)) of Grand Bay, AL; grandsons, Casey (Amy) and Chance (Regan) of Grand Bay, and great grandchildren, Mary Beth, Annie, Emily and Avery; and close friends, Brenda and Curtis Petty of Willis, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Lena Bell, brothers, Jesse and Harry, and sisters, Ethel Creel, Myrtle Lee Montgomery, Gladys McConnell, Helen Hasty, and Eloise Moore. The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 19, 2015 from 12 until 2 PM at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. Funeral services will start at 2 PM.
