Thomas Joseph Wilson died peacefully at home surrounded by his family on March 8, 2018 in Mobile, Alabama at the age of 86. Thomas Wilson is survived by his wife of 55 years, Elvia Castaneda Wilson; children, Jose Aquirre, Patricia Aquirre Van Erman, and Marilyn Wilson McGowan (Jeff McGowan); grandchildren, Wilson Benjamin McGowan and Callie Madison McGowan; great-grandchildren, Andrew Nathan Harrell and Andrea Nicole Harrell. He is preceded in death by his granddaughter, Erica Foster Harrell; siblings, George Wilson, Charles Wilson, Katherine Wilson McKissick and Lois Wilson Hof.
Thomas Wilson was born on August 13, 1931 in Little Rock, Arkansas to George and Dorothy Wilson. He graduated from the University of Arkansas in 1949 with a degree in chemical engineering. Mr. Wilson was a longtime and active member of Our Savior Catholic Church. He began working at International Paper Company in 1945 until his retirement in 1994. He was a dedicated member of the Knights of Columbus #4888 (4th Degree), Toastmasters International, and the Retinitis Pigmentosa Foundation.
A Memorial mass will be held Thursday, March 22, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Our Savior Catholic Church. The family will receive friends at the church from 10:30-11:00. Inurnment will be at Pine Crest West on Snow Road with a reception to follow at Jennings Hall at Our Savior Catholic Church. All are welcome to attend and celebrate his life. The family is grateful to Springhill Home Health and Hospice for their excellent care and support. In lieu of flowers, donations made be made to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul at Our Savior Catholic Church. Condolences may be offered at www.mobilefuneralservice.com.
