Tom Payne, Jr.

Tom J. Payne Jr., passed away on August 24, 2021 at 84 years of age. He was born in Cherokee, AL on April 12, 1937 to his parents Tom and Bessie Payne. Mr. Payne enlisted in the United States Army in 1958 and served his county honorably both stateside and in Korea. Later, he worked as a supervisor for an oil refinery in Theodore, AL and would retire after 30 years of dedicated work. Mr. Payne adored spending time with his family. He traveled all over the world and loved camping and RVing across the country. He always kept himself occupied doing general handyman work, visiting Disney with his family and square dancing with his beloved wife of 61 years.

Mr. Payne was preceded in death by his parents, Tom Payne Sr. and Bessie Mauldin Payne and his sister, Judy Paradee.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Betty Collum Payne; sons, Timothy Lee Payne and Anthony Mark (Michele) Payne; grandchildren, Teresa (Jonathan) Hay, Brianna (Matthew) Connell and Brockton Payne; great-grandchildren, Jacob Payne, Christopher Collum Hay, Finn Hay, Laina Hay, Ethan Thomas Pereida, and Palmer Connell; other relatives and many friends.

A visitation will be held at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home on Friday, August 27, 2021 from 9am until the 10am graveside service time in Mobile Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
