Violet Gipson

Violet Wayrah Odom Gipson, a native of Seaborn, AL and longtime resident of Wilmer, AL died Wednesday, September 17, 2014. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Wilmer and a retired teacher for the Head Start Program. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mancel Marcellus Odom and Maude Marie Day Odom her husband, John Lee Gipson, Jr. her sons, Michael David Gipson, Kenneth A. Gipson and Marshall J. Gipson her sisters, Verna Mae Roberts and Shelia Jean Royce her brothers, Charles Odom and Marcellus Odom and her grandson, Stephen Donald Morgan. She is survived by her daughters, Donna J. Gipson Donnie Morgan, Sharon Faye Gipson Jeff Crowder and Leona Gail Gipson William Todd her sons, John Lee Gipson, III and James R. Cathy Gipson her brothers, Arthur Katherine Odom and Ledeen Thelma Odom nieces, nephews numerous grandchildren and greatgrandchildren other relatives and friends. The family will receive friends at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home Sunday September 21, 2014 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 P.M. and Monday, September 22, 2014 from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM at First Baptist Church of Wilmer. Funeral services, officiated by Rev. Terry Glasscock and Rev. Tim Riggs, will be held at the Church at 11:00 AM. Interment will be in Mobile Memorial Gardens.
