Virginia Egan

Virginia Oberkirch Egan passed away peacefully at the age of 97 on Friday October 15, 2021. Mrs. Egan was born on August 14, 1924 in Mobile, AL . She attended St. Joseph Catholic Elementary School and a graduate of Bishop Toolen High School. She was a devoted wife and loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William Francis Egan, Sr.; her parents Wilson Joseph Oberkirch, Sr. and Sadie Watson Oberkirch; siblings Wilson Joseph Oberkirch, Jr., Gladys Oberkirch Woolsey, James Ross Oberkirch, Sr.; and grandson Wilson Roy Johnston, Jr.

She is survived by her children Virginia Egan Johnston, Kathleen Egan (Bunt) Yawn, Margaret Egan Koroschetz, William Francis Egan, Jr., Brian Patrick (Kim) Egan, and Thomas Michael (Karen) Egan; siblings June Oberkirch Schilling, Sadie Oberkirch (Burt) Ardoyno, and sister-in-law Francis Laurence Oberkirch; grandchildren Zac (Anna) Koroschetz, Stacey Yawn (Trevor) Denham, Jonathan (Danielle) Koroschetz, Angie Yawn, Jeremy Koroschetz, Heather Egan (Matthew) O'Gorman, Lydia Egan, Lauren Egan, and Michael Egan; 12 great-grandchildren and other beloved family members.

Mrs. Egan's arrangements will be on Thursday October 21, 2021 at St. Dominic Catholic Church with a mass of Christian burial at 10:00 am. Burial will be in Mobile Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Arrangements are by Mobile Memorial Gardens.
