Warren Patrick Lee, age 61, passed away on Friday, June 1, 2018 at Springhill Medical Center.
As a native of Mobile, Warren married his high school sweetheart Paula Dean Murphey, April 27, 1985. He was fortunate to find his true love as they both had a common interests for riding and raising horses. They spent the next 33 years together as true companions in pursuing common dreams and living life to the fullest. Warren valued his lifelong friends considering them as family. As an avid hobbyist with a sharp intellect and adventurous spirit, Warren spent his early years racing motocross, flying planes, riding horses, as a race horse announcer and rodeo announcer, scuba diver, boating and water skiing. Warren enjoyed time on Fowl River and Dauphin Island where at an early age became interested in the local history of lighthouses around Mobile Bay. Camping on Sand Island Lighthouse in his youth, he finally fulfilled a lifelong dream by forming the Sand Island Lighthouse Preservation Group in 1999. He worked with the Alabama Historical Commission and local Congressional Representatives to acquire Sand Island Lighthouse from the Government Services Administration for one dollar ultimately donating the lighthouse to the City of Dauphin Island. Warren wrote and published the Sand Island Lighthouse Chronicles for the public's enjoyment www.sandislandlighthouse.com. Warren earned a high school degree, attended college and was employed at Degussa/Evonik Industries where he worked the next 30 years as Safety and Security Supervisor. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ottis William Lee and Patricia Smallwood Lee. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a brother and sister and two nephews. Ecclesiastes 3:1-4 "For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven: a time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up what is planted; a time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up; a time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance."
Visitation will be held Tuesday, June 5, 2018 from 10:00am - 12:00pm at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. Funeral services will begin at 12:00pm in the chapel of Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home with interment immediately following in Mobile Memorial Gardens.
