Warren Guy Thigpen, Jr., a long-time resident of Mobile, AL, passed away in the early morning hours on Monday, May 07, 2018, at the age of 85. He was born in Montgomery, AL, to the late Warren Guy Thigpen, Sr., and Emma Barrett Thigpen. Mr. Thigpen, known as Guy to all who knew him, was a proud graduate of Stark Military Academy in Montgomery in 1952, where he was an All-State running back. After graduation he attended Auburn University in Auburn, AL. In 1954 He moved to Mobile to go to work for Armour and Company as a student salesman. He married Peggy Gail Lisenby of Montgomery in 1955 and continued working for Armour until he, and two partners, founded Cray H-R-I Food Service, Inc., in 1967. The company serviced hotels, restaurants and institutions in the Florida, Alabama and Mississippi Gulf Coast area for 43 years. He became sole owner of the business in 1991, and remained so until his retirement in 2011. Mr. Thigpen is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Anita K. Thigpen; two sons, Warren Guy Thigpen, III, and Jamy Lamar Thigpen of Mobile; two step children, Regina Akers of Pueblo, CO, and Roger Akers of Charlotte, NC; and his loving sister, Jean Thigpen Smith of Jacksonville, FL; 7 grandchildren, Christy Stimmell, Cantonment, FL, Guy Thigpen IV, Daphne, AL, Scott Thigpen, Winter Springs, FL, Nikki Patterson, Semmes, AL, Jamy Thigpen, Jr., Cory Thigpen and Connor Thigpen of Mobile; and 12 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his youngest son, Dale Wesley Thigpen. Guy was a member of Spring Hill Baptist Church and throughout the years belonged to Howard E. Palms Blue Lodge, Mobile York Rite and Scottish Rite and the Abba Temple. He enjoyed fishing from the time he was a boy and had fond memories of fishing with his father. Over the years he enjoyed camping and gardening, especially blooming plants. Guy has always been an avid Auburn Tigers fan and never missed a chance to call out "War Eagle!" when the opportunity presented itself. And the Western TV Channel just lost its greatest fan.
