Wesley Lyons Davis

Wesley Lyons Davis, born to John Faye Davis and Rose Lyons Davis, August 14th, 1926 in Atlanta, GA, has passed from this life into an eternity with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Wesley worked in forestry service in Montana at the young age of 16, but returned home during WWII and served in the South Pacific during that conflict. Later, he served as Petty Officer 3rd Class, Gunner's Mate, on the USS Princeton during the Korean Conflict, and was honorably discharged. Subsequent to serving his country, Wesley worked for the Southern Railway and attended night school, ultimately earning a Masters of Law degree from Atlanta University. Upon completion of his education, Wesley joined the U.S. Border Patrol where he served until retirement. During that time, he was involved as a Federal Law Enforcement Officer in the Civil Rights Movement and during tensions with Cuba. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife of 60 years, Barbara Merchant Davis. They are now rejoined. He is survived by his Children, Clinton W. Davis, Susan Rebecca Davis Chamness, John Clayton Davis and Jason Matthew Davis; many grandchildren; great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations in Wesley's name be made to Crosspoint Church, 4791 Schillinger Road South, Mobile, AL 36619. Funeral services will be held Sunday, January 11, 2015 at 6:00 PM from the Chapel of Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM. Graveside services will be held Monday, January 12, 2015 at 12:00 Noon in Mobile Memorial Gardens.
