Willard Wilkerson, Sr., known as "Leggs", went to his heavenly home Monday, October 9, 2017 peacefully at his home with his wife and children at his side. He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert Wilkerson and Emma Wilkerson; two brothers, Herman Wilkerson and Robert Wilkerson; three sisters, Lottie Waltman, Mable Andrews and Jeanette Andrews; two sons, Samuel Curtis "Sammy" Wilkerson and Terry Dean Wilkerson; one grandson, Timothy Bruce Russell; and one great-grandson, Cody Brooks. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Audrey Lewis Wilkerson; three sons, Willard Wilkerson, Jr., Larry Wilkerson and Danny Wilkerson; three daughters, Patricia "Pat" Russell, Becky Legg and Deborah "Deb" Wilkerson; 10 grandchildren; great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Mary Potter; other relatives and friends. Mr. Wilkerson was a longtime member of the Cedar Creek Holy church of God in Citronelle AL, was a devoted Christian and loved his church. He was a dedicated hard worker. He was a first class journeyman machinist, engine builder and automobile mechanic. He worked at Auto Machines for 5 years; Motor Parts and Supply for 25 years and Teledyne Continental Motors 36 years before retiring. He worked part-time for Campbell Piping Co. as a first class mechanic and helped build the first rear engine race car that ran at Mobile International Speed Way for Super Modified Race cars. Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 14, 2017 at 10:00 from the chapel of Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday evening, October 13, 2017 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM. Interment will be in Mobile Memorial Garden.
