Willene Davenport

Willene S. Davenport, age 90, beloved Grandmother and Mother, transitioned to Heaven on May 10, 2020. She entered this world on July 3, 1929 in Clanton, AL, born to Glover and Inez Smith. She is survived by her daughter Gail Alvis (John), her daughter-in-law Dolores Davenport, her grandchildren Lynn Land (Scott), Rusty Davenport (Jody), Johnny Alvis, Allen Alvis, her great grandchildren Amber Higginbotham (Travis), Ashley Booth (Austin), Grant Davenport, Madison Davenport; her sister Sherry Turner and her brothers Charles Smith and Ronnie Smith (Mary). She was preceded in death by her husband Murry Davenport and her son Murry "Buddy" Davenport, Jr. Willene was an active member of Cottage Hill Baptist Church. She spent her last year at Somerby Senior Living and enjoyed all activities, especially BINGO. She retired from the University of Alabama after 30 years as an Administrative Assistant.. She loved to shop, dance, play games, and attend water exercise. She was crowned Queen of the Gardendale Senior Center prior to moving to Mobile. She was a sweet, spunky, classy, little lady. A small family memorial service will be held on May 13, 2020. at 12:oo noon. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of Willene Davenport to Cottage Hill Baptist Church.
