William Edward Carley, a lifelong resident of the Fowl River Community, died Monday, October 3, 2016 at the age of 82. He was a retired mechanic for the City of Mobile. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gaines Joseph Carley and Maggie Stevenson Carley; his wife, Helen Louise Stiltner Carley; his brothers, Billy, Frank and John Carley; his sister, Betty June Carley Hendricks; and two step-daughters, Karen Smith and Kathy Ferguson. His survivors include his step-children, Bill, Cecil, Clarice, Patricia, Margie and Michele; step-grandchildren, Joanie, Dorothy, Ashley, Rhiannon, Rickey, Lori and Matthew; numerous great-great-grandchildren, especially S. J. Ingram who dearly loved his "Bop Pa"; nephews, Jimmy, Gene and Gabe; nieces, Rochel and Idalynn; cousins, Linda and Judy; other relatives and friends. Active pallbearers will be Gabe Williams, Tucker Johnson, Joey Alverson, Don Salva, Sr., Robert Salva, Sr. and Joseph Salva. Honorary pallbearers will be Gene Hendricks and Ronnie Salva.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 6, 2016 at 10:00 AM from the chapel of Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday evening, October 5, 2016, from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM. Interment will be in Mobile Memorial Gardens.
