William Dethloff, Sr.

August 9, 1943 — August 22, 2024

William Wayne Dethloff Sr (Bill) received his eternal reward on August 22, 2024. He was born on August 9, 1943. He served in the United States Air Force and was a member of the Honor Guard. He met his wife of 57 ½ years, Lola (Dusty) Dethloff while stationed at Pope Air Force Base in Fayetteville, North Carolina. He retired from CSX Transportation after 37 ½ years of service as an engineer. He is preceded in death by his father, William Dethloff, his mother, Helen Dethloff, his sister, Patricia Purvis, and his wife, Lola (Dusty) Dethloff. He is survived by his two children, William Wayne Dethloff, Jr. (Lesley) and Angela Dethloff Travis. He is also survived by his two grandchildren, who he dearly loved, Cierra Elizabeth Travis and William Robert Dethloff. He leaves behind his Little Buddy, Sparky, and his cat Lenny. He also leaves behind family members and numerous friends. A memorial service will be held on Friday, August 30, 2024, at the Orchard Assembly of God. Visitation will be from 10:30 to 12:00 with the service immediately following. We would like to thank Dr. Kenneth Burnham and his team for their extraordinary care and devotion to him over the last 4 ½ years. We would also like to thank the dedicated ICU and cardiac nurses at Springhill Medical Center who gave him outstanding care. Donations can be made in his honor to the Orchard Assembly of God or Mission of Hope. His master said, "Well done, good and faithful servant.” Matthew 25:23.
