William Edward "Ed" Olsen, Sr., age 94, passed away Wednesday, February 20, 2019.
Edward graduated from Murphy High School in 1943. After graduation, he served his country honorably during World War II in the United States Navy. Edward is one of the last remaining veterans that fought on the beaches of Normandy, France on "D-Day". He was passionate about his service to his country and was a charter member of the World War II Museum in New Orleans, Louisiana. He retired from Alabama Power after 48 years of service. Edward was very involved in the Mobile community. He was a member of the Alabama Power Retirees Energizers Club, a charter and active member of a local mystic society and an active member of Saint Joan of Arc Catholic Church.
He was preceded in death by parents, Edward Albert Olsen and Marguerite Scott Olsen and brother, Jack Albert Olsen.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Ann Beauvais Olsen; son, William Edward "Eddie" Olsen, Jr.; and numerous other relatives and friends.
A funeral mass will be held Saturday, February 23, 2019, at 11:00 a.m. at Saint Joan of Arc Catholic Church with Monsignor Wall officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00-11:00 a.m. before mass at the church. Interment will be at Magnolia Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be made to Saint Joan of Arc Catholic Church in Edward's memory. Condolences may be offered at www.mobilefuneralservice.com.
