William "Billy" Small of Mobile, Alabama passed on April 27, 2021, at the age of 76 peacefully at his home. Billy was born October 8, 1944, in New Orleans, LA. He graduated from Satsuma High School in Satsuma, Alabama. He then enlisted in the Navy and served his country honorably in the Vietnam War. Billy married Yuen Cheng (May Small) in 1999. They resided in Mobile, AL after many previous years of Billy working abroad.
He lived with his wife, May, step-daughter Jessie Fung and granddaughter Lauren Ng. Billy enjoyed time spent with his granddaughter and was quick to boast about how proud he was of Lauren. Growing up he loved to fish! There were many beautiful memories made with his grandmother (GoGo) on the causeway fishing. He also enjoyed his Alabama football and reading. Billy was a member of Christ United Methodist Church.
He leaves behind his wife May, daughter Terri Small, daughter Marie Small, step-daughter Jessie Fung, granddaughter Lauren Ng, siblings Cheryl Ibsen (Kent), Gene Smith, Alexa McCartney (Richard), Guy Mitchell Smith, Kevin Smith, Robin Williams, Julia Carol, C.P. Small, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
William was preceded in death by his parents, Carl P. Small and Bessie Evans Ibsen and grandmother Ida Mae Tears (GoGo).
He worked as an aircraft mechanic supervisor with Lockheed Aircraft Corporation, Continental, and retired from MAE. He worked his way up the ladder until he became an aircraft inspector. He was very proud of his work.
Billy will be deeply missed by all who loved him. As we shed tears, we also recognize you're no longer suffering. Thank you for all the memories you leave in our hearts. We love you, Billy.
His services will be held at Alabama State Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Spanish Fort, AL on Monday, May 3, 2021, service 11:00 am - 11:30 am.
