William (Bill) Ralph Spaulding was born on May 23, 1949 and passed away peacefully surrounded by family on February 6, 2021. He was a lifelong resident of Mobile, Alabama and attended Davidson High School. Bill proudly served his country through the US Army and the Alabama National Guard. He had a servant’s heart and would help anyone in need, especially if it involved children. Some of Bill’s favorite memories were made watching Alabama football and from his membership with the Marquis De Lafayette Societie. He kept us laughing through his last days and still managed to charm his nurses up until the end. His proudest accomplishment in life was his children and grandchildren, to whom he taught everything he knew about fishing and construction vehicles.
Bill is preceded in death by his parents, Edna Joy Dixon and William Raymond Spaulding, Sr. He is survived by his three children: Michael Shane Spaulding of Mobile, AL, Tina Spaulding Pilgrim of Calera, AL, and Dedra Spaulding McCallister (Matthew) of Dallas, TX; four grandchildren: Casey (Blake) Pilgrim, Marketa Spaulding, Mason Dicks, and Robert McCallister; and siblings Linda Dixon, William “Billy” Spaulding, Rusty Spaulding, Wanda Coker, and Thomas Spaulding; many cousins, nieces, nephews and other family members.
A visitation will be held at Mobile Memorial Funeral Home on Wednesday, February 10th. Family visitation will begin at 6pm and other friends and loved ones are welcome to visit from 6:30pm to 8pm. If attending, facial masks are required and you must observe social distancing protocols. If you are experiencing any COVID related symptoms, we ask that you please stay home. A private graveside service will be held for immediate family members on Thursday, February 11th.
Our family would like to thank Bill’s compassionate and excellent caregivers over the years, including Fresenius Medical, Saad’s Hospice, Mobile Infirmary Hospital, Dr. Joiner, Dr. Rose, and Marcella Rodriguez. We are especially grateful for our angel, Patricia Rowell, who was devoted to caring for Bill in his final years. In lieu of flowers, we ask that donations be made to Shriners Hospital for Children. Roll Tide, Bubba...we love you more.
