Zellettia Streit

Zellettia Leininger Streit, 96, died in her home in Lucedale, MS on June 16, 2021 surrounded by her loving family. She is survived by her son, Philip RaDean Streit, and daughter, Phylene Maughon, and a host of nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great grandchildren and many friends. She is preceded in death by her parents Edwin and Ethel Leininger, her husband of 65 years Philip Nixon Streit, brother Lyle and three sisters Florence, Opal and Medeia.

Zellettia was an accomplished performer most of her life including Ringling Bros Barnum Bailey Circus. She owned her own dance studio with sister Medeia in Ames, Iowa and also taught dance at Iowa State University. She was inducted into the Ames Iowa History Society Hall of Fame in 2014 and also into Ringling Bros Hall of Fame in Sarasota, FL. Her family would like to thank Hospice Of Light and a very special nurse Catfish Hamm for the compassionate and loving care they provided. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to the Alzheimer's Research Association or Hospice Of Light in Ocean Springs, MS

Funeral services are scheduled for Monday, June 21, 2021 at 2:00 PM from the Chapel of Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home with visitation beginning at 1:00 PM. Interment will be in Mobile Memorial Gardens. Condolences may be offered at www.mobilefuneralservice.com.
