Amanda Brazeal, age 26, of Chunchula, Alabama, passed away on Thursday, April 22, 2021, while serving her country honorably in Iraq. Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with the arrangements.
Amanda graduated from Citronelle High School in 2012, then went to The University of Southern Mississippi where she earned her Bachelor of Arts in Music, in 2016. She was very talented and passionate about music and would learn how to play any instrument she could get her hands on.
She joined the United States Marine Corps on October 10, 2017. Her first duty station was at Parris Island, South Carolina, after training at the Navy School of Music. Then, in 2020, she was transferred to Quantico, Virginia to train at the Marine Security Guard (MSG) school. Upon completion of MSG school, Amanda was deployed to Iraq for her first tour. Her fellow soldiers quickly became her family and she will be missed deeply by them all.
Amanda was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Shirley Kiger and Bill Hardy, and paternal grandparents, Paul and Carol Brazeal.
Survivors include her parents, Douglas and Michelle Brazeal; brother, Jeffrey Brazeal; and other family members and friends.
Funeral Mass will be held Saturday, May 1, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 251 N Craft Hwy, Chickasaw, AL 36611, with Father Saucier officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the Mass at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow with military honors at Mobile Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
